Desperate to escape her troubled family, Xu Wu eagerly agrees to an arranged marriage, hoping to start a new life away from home. However, in a case of mistaken identity, she ends up meeting Song Tingxi, a cardiac surgeon recently returned from the Mayo Clinic, believing he is the man arranged for her. Sharing similar views on marriage, the two quickly decide to tie the knot.
It is only after their wedding that Xu Wu discovers Song Tingxi is actually the newly appointed deputy director of the Department of Cardiac Surgery. Worried that their marriage could affect her chances of being promoted to attending physician, she decides to keep their relationship a secret for the time being.
At first, Song Tingxi only wants a wife who is independent, not overly clingy, and capable of handling her own family affairs. Xu Wu fits his requirements perfectly and follows every condition they agreed upon before marriage.
But things begin to change when Song Tingxi realizes that colleagues from different departments are eager to introduce Xu Wu to potential partners. For the first time, the usually composed surgeon feels a sense of urgency. Unable to tolerate the thought of someone else pursuing his wife, he begins secretly showing his affection for her at the hospital.
As Xu Wu's appointment as an attending physician becomes the subject of controversy, the couple faces pressure both at work and in their relationship. Once the turmoil finally settles, Song Tingxi openly acknowledges their marriage, giving Xu Wu the support and recognition she deserves.
What began as a practical arrangement gradually develops into a genuine partnership, proving that sometimes the most unexpected marriage can lead to the love neither person knew they were looking for.
