Xu Siyi first crosses paths with the elegant TCM doctor Zhou Zhili at a police station. Completely struck by his looks, she makes a bold, direct pass at him, cheekily offering herself as the condition to settle her current legal dispute. Unfazed by her straightforward flirting, Zhou Zhili coolly writes her a physical prescription for "clearing heat and calming the mind" before walking right out. Refusing to back down, Siyi tries to pursue him three more times, but she is shut down each time. During their final encounter, Zhili bluntly tells her that he is under no obligation to play along with her games, prompting Siyi to finally accept the rejection and give up.
However, fate brings them back together when they unexpectedly cross paths in a remote mountain village. Siyi is there to run a charity children's book donation drive, while Zhili is volunteering his medical services for a free clinic. Stripped of the superficial city glitz, Zhili gets to see a completely different side of Siyi. He watches her bond warmly with the locals as their beloved "Ah Mei," discovers her secret identity as a brilliant literary author, and realizes how hard she has fought to free herself from her family's overbearing expectations. Seeing her genuine kindness, vulnerability, and strength, the cold doctor realizes his defenses have completely crumbled, forcing him to admit that he had secretly fallen for her long ago.
